iTunes can be pretty restrictive - it doesn't allow you to share your collection with others and you pretty much have to keep your music collection on your pc or it may get wiped from your device next time you sync it. CopyTrans Manager (this is the free part of the siftware) allows you to move your files around where ever you are without iTunes.
