The tool analyses your disk drives and collects several statistics which you can view as overview charts and details tables. |

This is a great little application that scans your hard drive(s) and shows you where all your space is being used. You can drill down through the folders and subfolders to view the information. The default view is a pie chart, which makes idetification of the larger files easy, but you can change the views to suit yourself. A highly recommended piece of software. |

Open source virtual machines on your desktop. Ever wanted to try a different operating system but didn't want to load it as your main system? Every wanted to run your old copy of Windows 98 on your Vista pc?
Virtualization lets you run loads of different operating systems (including server versions) from within your normal operating system. You can use these virtual machines with all of the resources of your laptop/desktop without affecting your main operating system. If you use server software as a virtual machine, you can even get clients to log onto it as if it were a real server. |
Ade's Comments: |
This is a fantastic piece of software if you want to try other operating systems. You simply create as many virtual machines as you wish, assign resources to them and away you go - the operating system appears in a window. You can switch between your main OpSys and the virtual one. Very handy! |

Backup those important items of data (files, photos, movies etc.). This is a small and very flexible little backup software. You can set up regular backup routines (you can create more that one backup to run at specified times (daily, weekkly etc.) or on the fly. You can backup to pretty much anything, including flash drives, network drives and external hard drives. You can also set differencial backups up, so that only updated/new files get backup up (makes the backup much quicker). |

I have installed this in several locations, and it seems to work very well - especialy with flash drives. |

FBackup is a free backup software for both personal and commercial use. It protects your important data by backing it up automatically to any USB/Firewire device, local or network location. The backed up data can be either compressed (using standard zip compression) or an exact copy of the original files. |
Ade's Comments: |
FBackup will allow you to back up your important data to a plug in device, such as USB Flash Drive or external hard drive, a partition or additional drive on your pc or another pc on your network. I have not used this myself, but it looks simple and easy to use, allows you to schedule backups as well as running on the fly and saves data either as an exact copy or a compressed file (easily accessible via the restore routine or any zip program - such as JZip). You can even add plug ins for your browser (Opera or Forefox) to save history, favourites, passwords etc. It also supports Volume Shadow Copy, which will backup files even if they are in use. There will soon be a tutorial on backing up your data. |

Iobot produce some great free software, and this is one of the best. The lastest version packs more functionality into it's simply interface. It groups functions together so you can clean and optimise with a single click. Keep your system healthy and use AWC regularly. |
